LITTER pickers have been giving Lodmoor Country Park a spring clean.
Around 20 volunteers helped to give the area a spruce up and collected a huge pile of rubbish.
The event was organised by the Friends of Lodmoor Country Park.
Dinah Ellis from the Friends group said: “It was really successful, we had about 20 people turn up in the end.
“We had lovely weather and we managed to fill the whole of the back of a flat bed truck with bags of various litter.”
She added: “It looks lovely for the start of our spring events.”
Volunteers also spent the weekend planting 400 native trees and shrubs around the perimeter of the Weymouth Pitch and Putt golf course.
The trees were acquired from the Woodland Trust by Weymouth and District Beaver Cub leader Sue Carter on behalf of golf club proprietor Darren Melhuish.
The Beavers, supervised by Tracy Winder and members of the Friends of Lodmoor Country Park, planted the trees to help fill gaps caused by those lost during the winter storms.
Afterwards Mr Melhuish rewarded the volunteers with refreshments.
