THE pressure is mounting as the ultimate group of finalists are picked for Dorset’s Got Talent.

The final of talent showcase, in aid of Weldmar Hospicecare Trust, is now just five days away.

Singers and performers are brushing up on their performances in a bid to wow the judges and claim the crown at this Saturday’s show at the Freshwater Holiday Park in Burton Bradstock.

This weekend saw the last chance for people to audition, with more than 20 acts taking to the stage to display their skills in a bid to impress the judges.

Matt Smith from Weldmar said the standard had been ‘incredibly high’ and the entries had been very varied including singers, a hula hoop act, a tap dancer, an impressionist and dance troupes.

He said: “The variety this weekend was the biggest we have had so far.

“It was a really mixed bag – it was great and very varied. The standard was outstanding.”

In the end it was three singers who impressed and got the green light from the judges.

Annabell Davies, aged 12, sang pop hit ‘Titanium’, Lucie Trollope, 20, put a theatrical spin on Queen’s smash ‘Somebody to Love,’ while retro group The Decadettes sang ‘Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree,’ to clinch those last few places.

There will also be a wild card entry, where the judges pick an act they loved but didn’t get a place to take a spot in the final.

Mr Smith said: “We have still got the wild card to decide – how we will do that I don’t know. There are so many we want to put through but we can only put through one.”

He added: “The final is just going to be incredibly tough.

“Every week we have gone ‘we can’t find anything better,’ and every week there’s incredible talent.”

The overall winner of the competition will receive £500 in cash, donated by Hive Beach Cafe, and a family holiday at Freshwater Holiday Park.
