A DEDICATED volunteer who supported a charity for more than a quarter of a century will be remembered as a vital piece of equipment is donated to St Mary’s Church in Burton Bradstock tomorrow.

Diana Mary Bailey, known as Mary, died at the age of 84 in June last year. She had dedicated 27 years of her life to supporting the work of the British Red Cross.

Mary co-ordinated fundraising activities for the charity in Burton Bradstock and the surrounding area, helping to raise tens of thousands for the charity. The charity will present a wheelchair to the Reverend Ryder Rogers and church wardens Basil Dent and Howard Bongers.

The presentation will be made by another longstanding Red Cross volunteer and close friend of Mary’s, Marjorie Lathey.

She said: “Mary was a special lady and heavily involved in the Red Cross locally. She simply wanted to help other people.

“Everyone who worked alongside her misses her greatly.”
