AN INMATE threw hot water over a prison guard in an attack at Portland Young Offender Institution, a court heard.
Brian Maswaya, 32, admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm at a hearing at Dorchester Crown Court.
Maswaya, who has since been transferred to HMP Bristol and is serving a prison sentence on other matters, appeared at the court via video link.
Prosecutor Carolyn Branford-Wood told the court that during the assault on November 24 last year, Maswaya was being led back to his cell when he asked if he could get some hot water to make a drink as the electrics were faulty.
She said: “When the defendant returned he was swinging a bucket back and forward. The prison officer instantly knew what was going to happen.”
The hearing was adjourned for further reports to be prepared.
Mawaya will be sentenced at Dorchester Crown Court on April 11.
