A CAR flipped over a hedge into a field following an accident on the A35.

The accident, which took place shortly after 4pm, closed one lane on the A35 eastbound in Winterbourne Abbas between the B3159 junction and the Tilly Whim Lane junction.

Dorset Police and two fire crews from Dorchester attended the scene and the driver of the vehicle was cut free from the vehicle by firefighters using hydraulic cutting equipment.

There are believed to be no serious injuries.

A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “We were alerted to an accident involving one vehicle on the A35 shortly after 4pm where a vehicle flipped into a nearby field.

"The driver sustained minor injuries as a result of the accident and the vehicle is currently being recovered from the scene."

A Dorset Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “Two fire crews from Dorchester attended the accident where a saloon car had flipped into a field.

"One person was cut free from the vehicle using hydraulic cutting equipment.”

The road is now re-open.

The A354 Portland Road in Weymouth was also partially blocked northbound at the Gallwey Road junction, because of a broken down lorry.
