CONCERNS have been raised over construction of a new sports hall at a proposed academy hub on Portland.
Plans proposed by Isle of Portland Aldridge Community Academy (IPACA) to site its main campus at Southwell Business Park were further scrutinised yesterday.
Gary Overton, associate director at Aedas Architects, faced questions over the proposed sports hall.
One resident, raising concerns about the site, said: “The position of the sports hall will move the main access road to a residential property and that will affect the local community. If you put a sports hall there, we have no alternative but to move it.”
Mr Overton said he couldn’t dispute the fact that the road would be moved and suggested that would be an issue for another panel member to discuss further.
Mr Overton added the sports hall wouldn’t break the skyline and by placing it near to a residential area, the visual impact would be reduced.
He said: “It meets the required guidance for Sport England.”
The inquiry continues.
