A DRIVER had a lucky escape after a car flipped over.

Emergency services rushed to the scene on the A35 between Dorchester and Winterbourne Abbas yesterday afternoon.

The driver, who was not seriously hurt, had to be cut free from the vehicle by firefighters.

Police said the car flipped over a hedge into a field in the accident on the A35. The crash, which took place shortly after 4pm, closed the eastbound lane on the A35 between Tilly Whim Lane and Winterbourne Abbas.

Firecrews from Dorchester cut the driver free using hydraulic cutting equipment before paramedics took over.

The driver suffered minor injuries as a result of the accident and the vehicle was recovered from the scene.
