VOLUNTEERS are needed to help clear up the county’s beaches this weekend.
On Sunday, clean-up operations will take place at Chesil beach and Ringstead, near Weymouth.
Each clean will involve collecting debris which has been washed up during the adverse weather over the last few months, including cargo from the Svenborg Maersk container ship.
Gloves, bags and litter pickers will be provided at all locations but volunteers are asked to wear sturdy footwear and suitable clothing.
Organisers will be at the location for two hours and volunteers can join at any point.
There are two locations for the Chesil beach clean, both meeting at 11am: • Dorset Wildlife Trust’s Fine Foundation Chesil Beach Centre.
The Lulworth Estate is also holding a beach clean on Sunday. The meeting place is the Slipway, Lulworth Cove at 2pm.
The annual Great Dorset Beach clean will take place on Sunday, 27 April.
The council’s coastal ranger team and volunteers will collect rubbish and debris on 25 beaches along the county’s coastline.
