A TEENAGE driver has died in a head-on collision with a tree.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Hurn Road, Ashley Heath, Ringwood, which runs alongside the A338 southbound, this morning.

Traffic Sergeant Joe Pardey said: “We were called to a single vehicle collison at about 8.50am.

"The collison involved a green Renault Clio being driven by an 18-year-old man from the Bournemouth area.

"The Clio left the road and collided with a tree and the 18-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene by ambulance personnel.

"Our collision investigators are working to try and establish the cause of why the vehicle left the road.

"We would like to appeal for any witnesses who may have seen that vehicle this morning.

"Next of kin have been informed."

Police were called to the collision near Avon Avenue/Egmont Drive around 8.49am.

Police and emergency services are still on the scene and the road is closed.

An investigation into the collision is underway.

The local authority has also been called to deal with further road closures.
