SINGLE parents are being urged to join a West Dorset support group.

The group, for lone parents in Bridport, Beaminster and Lyme Regis, is appealing for more members.

It is run by Dorset County Council's Bridport Children’s Centre in conjunction with Gingerbread – a charity that provides help and advice for single parents.

Parents or carers can have a cup of tea, bacon buttie and chat with others in a similar situation while their children get the chance to play and make new friends. The next session is on Saturday March 29 from 10am to noon at Bridport Children’s Centre on Skilling Hill Road.

One parent who uses the group said: “It’s useful speaking to other single parents to exchange stories and tips.”

Councillor Rebecca Knox, Dorset County Council’s cabinet member for children’s safeguarding and families, said: “This group allows single parents to meet others that are in a similar situation.”

For more information call Tammy at Beaminster Children’s Centre on 01308 861030.
