PETER Meech has contacted us with this photograph of The Islanders’ under-17 Team from Portland.
In the 1970/71 season they became Dorset Under 17 Champions in 1970/1971 by winning the South Dorset Youth League (Weymouth Round Table Cup) and then beating North Dorset champions Hazelbury Bryan and Lagland Street Boys Club, Poole, who were the East Dorset champions.
Their reward was to win the Shutler Cup. Peter remembered a few of the names here including the manager Dave Golding, who is at the far right in the back row.
Also in the back row third from right is Stephen Way.
Peter is in the front row, far right, with Phil Cheater second from right.
Steve Oldridge is also in the front row third from right and captain Richard Burley fourth from right.
