CONSTRUCTION work has started on new retirement apartments in Weymouth.
Located on North Quay, a mix of 43 one and two bedroom apartments for people aged 60 and above will be built by McCarthy & Stone.
People are being invited to register their interest in the development, which overlooks Weymouth Marina.
The first occupations will be taking place in the summer of 2015.
Jacqui Meenan, sales and marketing director for McCarthy & Stone, said: “Everything we do is built around a belief that later life can be rich, rewarding and fulfilling, and starting construction of our Retirement Living development marks an exciting milestone in helping the over 60s in Weymouth make the most of later life.
“When complete, the apartments will be low maintenance in design and will benefit from modern fittings, good security and will have a number of specialist features.”
As part of McCarthy & Stone’s Retirement Living developments, facilities will include a shared lounge, guest suite, laundry room and a lift.
A dedicated house manager will be at hand with 24-hour emergency call points also available.
All properties have been designed to be low maintenance and energy efficient.
