FOUR sports leaders from Damers First School wanted to go that extra mile to support this year’s Sport Relief, and in fact they went much further than that.
Kirsten Thorpe, PE coordinator, organised a Jurassic coastal walk along the Purbecks for the pupils, who were sponsored by their friends and family.
The children developed their orienteering skills to complete the five-mile walk which incorporated a steep valley near Chapman’s pool.
The organisers of the event would like to thank the coastguards that kindly shared their expertise with the children, who were thrilled at being given the opportunity to look and try out some of the equipment.
Kirsten added: “I am immensely proud of all of our sports leaders, they want to make a real difference to the lives of others and they rose to the challenge. They are a remarkable group of caring and thoughtful children and it was a pleasure to organise this for them.”
