FIREFIGHTERS helped to rescue a trapped seagull on a roof in Weymouth town centre.
A high-rise fire appliance was used in the rescue operation in St Thomas Street this afternoon.
The bird was caught in netting.
Part of the street was cordoned off during the operation.
Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said the gull was handed over to the RSPCA once it was freed.
A brigade spokesman said the fire service and the RSPCA have 'a memorandum of understanding' around these types of incidents and costs will be recovered from the responsible person.
