Dorset Echo: Council is an ‘investor in people’ Council is an ‘investor in people’

Purbeck District Council has retained its Investors in People Award (IIP) for the third time.

Leader of Purbeck District Council, Councillor Gary Suttle, said: “Retaining this award clearly demonstrates the council’s commitment to its staff. “Excellent customer service can only be achieved by staff who are motivated, are properly trained and who are well-supported by their manager.

“The award is deserved recognition for the employees’ hard work and commitment, especially at a time when the council has faced financial challenges, uncertainty and change.”

The district council first achieved IIP status in 2008 and, as part of a reassessment process, staff were interviewed by an assessor.

The assessment also involved in-depth audits of the council’s processes.

To gain the accreditation which comes in bronze, silver and gold. No mention in the report of which one. A lot of the public do not realise that to gain the accreditation you have to pay for the assessment, in this case the council taxpayer.

In the private sector companies have found that the Investors in People logo. Has no effect on the attitude from the public spending money or working for a company, just because of the logo and accreditation. So are not prepared or cannot afford to pay for the assessment.
