A VOLUNTARY group in Dorset is among those sharing in a £30,000 grant from a programme that supports energy efficiency in social housing, businesses and the community.
Dorset Energised received £400 from Ready for Retrofit, a three-year project offering a new funding opportunity for social landlords in the south west of England.
It is supporting groups running Energy Saving Open Homes Days and Energy Fairs throughout the year.
Dorset Energised has already held its Renewable Energy Exhibition and Forum in Dorchester.
The public had the chance to quiz commercial developers, have a look at electric vehicles, and take part in some interesting discussions, particularly around community investment and involvement.
Paul McIntosh, the co-director of Dorset Energised said: “We are extremely pleased with the success of our first Renewable Energy Exhibition and Forum event.
“Exhibits such as the electric cars and bikes proved particularly popular.”
He added: “Bringing together community groups and commercial suppliers made for some extremely interesting debates and we are looking forward to our next event at the Dorset County Show in September.”
The £8million three-year Ready for Retrofit scheme funded by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) is being run by the Energy Saving Trust.
It enables social landlords to apply for funding to retrofit energy efficiency and microgeneration measures to improve the energy performance of their homes.
