A FLOATING tree trunk which posed a hazard to navigation has washed ashore.
The Lulworth Range Safety Craft, Smit Frome, offered to assist Portland Coastguard with locating the trunk on Monday at around 10.15am.
The trunk was reported by the National Coastwatch at St Alban’s Head who had observed it floating.
The Range Vessel took the trunk in tow and placed it within Chapman’s Pool as close to shore as possible, allowing the tide to help bring it in later in the day.
