COMMUNITY organisations in Dorset are being urged to get involved in a nationwide music celebration.

Organisers of the Our Big Gig event are calling on groups in the county to host an Our Big Gig event and get involved in the country’s biggest community music celebration.

Applications for £400 grants for event management training are being accepted by event organises Superact if they are submitted before Friday.

Superact director Katherine Lane said: “Our Big Gig is a fantastic opportunity for people in Dorset to host a musical event in their community and reach out to people they may not yet know. Whether you are a seasoned promoter or have no prior experience, absolutely anyone can apply to put on an Our Big Gig event.

“For the successful applicants Superact will provide training, support and give you the skills you need to run an events this summer and beyond.”

At the launch Our Big Gig, Communities Minister Stephen Williams said: “Our Big Gig is a great opportunity for local people to take the lead in putting on a musical event that unites their local community, celebrates talent and inspires people.”
