LITTLE loved ones will be remembered at the annual Precious Memories Gathering in Weymouth.

In a ‘spirit of sharing and supporting’, families will be meeting for the fourth year to remember babies and children who have died.

Organisers this year are curate at St Andrew’s Church the Rev Betty Port, Mary Wilkins of St Augustine’s School, and Joyce Fannon of Weymouth and District Life Group. Mrs Fannon said: “There will be readings, live music, candles to light, naming the children on cards that go into a Remembrance Book, time for quiet reflection or prayer and posies to take away.

“Despite severe weather last year, we had a very beautiful gathering when 30 little ones were remembered. People with or without a faith dimension in their lives are all most welcome; we try to cater for everyone.”

Mrs Fannon said although the event is in Weymouth people from outside the area are very welcome.

An important contribution will be made at the event by volunteers including Dr Jeremy Parkinson, Dr John Fannon, Mary Jennings, Krys Fursman and Jill Mason.

Music will be provided by pianist and vocalist Jane Ayles of St Augustine’s School and All Saints’ School.

Mrs Fannon added: “Should people wish to stay on for a while after the gathering, there are free refreshments provided.

“Interestingly, this social aspect has developed friendships and an element of self-help over the years.”

The annual Precious Memories Gathering is at St Mary’s Church, St Mary Street, Weymouth, on Sunday at 2pm.
