• Betty Hennessey rang to say that the Weymouth East Scout & Guide Group Spring Jumble sale raised the magnificent total of £450, and she would like to thank all those who turned out to assist, including the those from Sutton Poyntz who responded to the urgent call for helpers.

Betty has been involved to a great extent with the Scouts and Guides in the Scutt Hall for over 44 years, but she said that this was her last jumble sale, and the next beach stall, also a good fundraiser to help keep the Scutt Hall in a good state of repair, will again be her last.

Unfortunately another loyal supporter, Jill Small, has also indicated that she wants to take more of a back seat.

That means that the sales, which have raised many thousands of pounds, are in need of someone - or perhaps a committee to spread the workload - to take on their organisation.

Betty and Jill will still be available to help and advise, so if you are willing to take part, give Betty a ring on 833614 for more information. The youngsters need YOU!

• Do you fancy an Easter Challenge? Then why not attempt the Easter Challenge Trail, a stroll around the beautiful village of Sutton Poyntz collecting stamps to show where you have been - and completing the challenges if you are up for it!

There will be a prize for the most points obtained from completing the course. plus a raffle for a giant egg, and everyone taking part receives a crème egg.

Refreshments will be on offer in the Scutt Hall, before, during and after the event. It sounds like great fun for all the family, starting from the Scutt Hall, Sutton Road, Sutton Poyntz, at 10.30am on Friday18 April.

It costs just £2 per person and all proceeds go to Weymouth East Scout & Explorer Group Jamboree Fund.
