TELEVISION producers are hoping to uncover some gems when they come to Dorset next month.

BBC’s antiques programme ‘Flog It’ will be holding a valuation day Lulworth Castle on Thursday, May 8 and residents are invited to bring along up to three items they may be interested in selling.

James Weld of Lulworth Estate said: “Following on from Antiques Roadshow’s successful visit back in 2011, we are all very pleased to be welcoming presenter Paul Martin and the Flog It team to Lulworth Castle.

“We hope this event will be equally well supported and people will join us for what promises to be an interesting and enjoyable day.”

Paul Martin will be joined on the valuation day, which will take place between 9.30am and 4.30pm, by experts Mark Stacey, Catherine Southon and David Fletcher.

Antiques and collectables selected at the valuation day will go under the hammer at Charterhouse Auctioneers, Sherborne, on Friday, June 6.

Louise Hibbins, series producer, said: “Paul Martin and the entire Flog It team are really pleased to be bringing the show to Lulworth Castle.

“We always receive a warm welcome when we come to Dorset. Lulworth with its rich history and beautiful setting will provide the perfect location for our event.

“If you’ve ever wondered how much your boot sale bargains or clutter in the loft might be worth, now is your chance to find out.”

Producers are hoping to continue their recent trend of unearthing valuable treasures after a rare Aboriginal Broad Shield that had been kept hidden away in a wardrobe fetched £30,000 at auction in North Lincolnshire.

The series also uncovered an unusual Royal Doulton Spook figurine in Blackpool which had been bought at a car boot sale for £2 and went on to sell at auction for £5,000.
