Dorset Echo: Dorset teen’s marathon mission to support Cancer Research Dorset teen’s marathon mission to support Cancer Research

A DORSET sixth former is taking a break from studying to run the London Marathon.

Ben Kelleher, 18, of Sturminster Newton, pictured, will take to the streets of the capital to raise money for Cancer Research.

He said: “I can’t wait for the challenge and I am hoping to raise lots for the charity and change lives, “I also hope to receive the support of the local community as well as that of my family and friends.”

Ben has been training hard over the last few months having run more than 500 miles in that time, including the Reading Half Marathon.

He said: “I’ve reached my maximum training target of 20 miles now.

“My fundraising target was £1,000 and I’ve now raised £1,472, and there's more coming in. I've been amazed by the support I have had, and any more is welcomed.

“I feel Cancer Research is a charity we can all relate to and the more money raised the better, so we can help those suffering with it, and their friends and families, and hopefully one day put a stop to cancer.”
