WE thought that these photos of old Weymouth are so lovely they deserve a wider audience.

The one showing cars on the seafront with the old Ritz theatre in the background was taken in 1918. We particularly like the family to the left of the picture looking over the railings on to the beach, the girl and her mother dressed in crisp and cool white dresses, both wearing hats.

The photo of the bathing beauties on the beach was taken in 1908.

Note how everyone on the sand is dressed very formally with suits, dresses and hats and even the paddlers keep their hats on.

The third, colour, photo is of old High West Street running behind where Weymouth and Portland Borough Council offices now stand on North Quay.

The adverts on the walls and old cars give it a wonderfully atmospheric feel.

If anyone has other old photos of the town they would like to share, please get in touch.
