WEST Dorset MP Oliver Letwin has launched a mapping tool to showcase social enterprises.

The new West Dorset Social Action Map is the brain child of Mr Letwin and aims to create an online hub for social enterprises in West Dorset.

The map allows all community groups from sports clubs, charities, community interest groups to coffee mornings and children’s clubs to showcase themselves on the interactive map.

Groups can also advertise their news and events for free. And it is free to join the site.

The map pin-points different groups using different coloured markers, so that people can quickly and easily see what social enterprises are in their area.

Mr Letwin said: “I created the Social Action mapping website as way to increase the visibility of social enterprises in West Dorset.

“Mapping is a very powerful tool that allows users to quickly gain information of what exists in their area.

“Social enterprises can also advertise their news and events for free, adding an extra level of publicity.”

He added: “I really would like every social enterprise in West Dorset to be on the map and website, as I believe the site could be a valuable addition to the local area.

“Even if you’re part of a small or ad hoc group, you can still join the map, and I encourage you to get in touch.

“The website is completely non-political, and I have done this as I think it will be of real benefit to all of West Dorset.”
