THE Wessex Supporter Group of Dogs for the Disabled raised £4,016 during the charity’s 25th anniversary year in 2013.

Funds were raised through supermarket collections, talks to community groups and charity stands at local events.

The group’s chairman Maureen Thomas said: “We’re so thrilled to be able to contribute to such a worthwhile cause.

“We’d love to hear from anyone who’d like to help us.”

Community fundraising manager Stephanie Lawless said: “We’re delighted and would like to thank the group for their hard work raising these desperately needed funds and for helping to spread the word about the charity’s work in our 25th anniversary year.”

Nationwide the supporter groups raised more than £175,000 during the year and it costs nearly £3million a year to run the charity. There are currently 280 dogs trained by the charity helping adults and children in England and Wales.
