Residents are reminded they must be registered on the electoral roll if they wish to vote in this year’s elections.

Voters will go to the polls on May 22 to decide who they wish to represent them on Weymouth & Portland Borough Council and European Parliament for the South West.

The deadline to register is 5pm on May 6.

If voters are away on holiday or are unable to get to their polling station on May 22 they can apply to vote by post. Deadline for applications is 5pm on May 7.

Anyone who wishes to vote by proxy and has not done so before must be registered by 5pm on May 14.

Borough councillors are elected in thirds and elections take place three out of every four years. Radipole, Westham West and Weymouth East will not be having elections this year.

The count for the borough council will take place from 10am on May 23. The European elections count will take place on May 25.

Cllr Mike Goodman, Brief Holder for Corporate Affairs and Continuous Improvement at Weymouth & Portland Borough Council, said: “You can help shape your local council by voting in this year’s election.”
