DORSET Police is hoping to boost its number of experienced officers- by enticing them from other forces from across the UK.

It has today launched a campaign to recruit 25 police constables from other areas.

In October, Dorset Police began its first recruitment campaign in four years- now it wants to bring in ‘experienced transferees.’ Police and Crime Commissioner Martyn Underhill said: “Dorset Police officers operate at the heart of the community, ensuring safety and security to those who work, live and visit the county.

“Despite operating in austere times, we have to balance the workforce.

“It is right that we bring more officers into the policing family. We are striving to provide a more visible force, with an emphasis on neighbourhood policing.”

Chief Constable Debbie Simpson said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for current serving police constables to join the Dorset Police team and help make a difference. We are fortunate to police a beautiful and diverse county which attracts millions of visitors each year.

“I’d encourage anyone who is interested in forging a career with Dorset Police to visit our website and find out more.”

The recruitment process closes on Monday, May 10.
