A MAN remains in a critical condition in hospital after a crash on the A37.
The man was airlifted to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol following a collision between a Ford Focus car he was in and a HGV lorry on Friday afternoon.
The collision happened at Closworth on the A37 Dorchester Road at about 2.15pm. It is understood the man underwent surgery after arriving at hospital.
Officers from Avon and Somerset Police said the man was still in a critical condition.
The lorry driver was treated at the scene for back injuries. The road was closed for several hours while emergency services worked. Diversions were put in place down the A35.
Collision investigators are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time – or just before the collision – who may have information to help with their enquiries.
Anyone with information should call Avon and Somerset Police on 101 or 0800 555111.
