FIND out what the day in the life of an NCI Coastwatch volunteer is like.
The Portland Bill lookout will be holding an open day on Sunday May 4 from 11am to 4pm.
Visitors will be able to meet the volunteer team and look round the watch room.
People will be able to look through the powerful binoculars the team use to help keep tabs on shipping. This amazing piece of equipment will let people look across the 690 square miles of sea from a height of 170ft.
Other attractions include being able to watch the CCTV pictures transmitted back from the Coastwatch camera, situated at the top of the Bill Lighthouse, filming the in-shore passage 24 hours a day.
And if that’s not enough, there will be handmade crafts, books, bric-a-brac and a tombola.
Entry and parking are free but donations to the charity will be very gratefully accepted.
