HOMEOWNERS are being urged to spring into action and clean up their gardens.

It comes as a study reveals one in three people in the South West have admitted to never cleaning them.

Despite on average spending four hours each week cleaning our homes, a large number of gardens appear to be left neglected.

The national survey of 2,000 garden owners, commissioned by Jeyes as part of its Great British Scrub Up campaign, also found that 29 per cent of people in the South West have never cleaned their patio.

Nearly a third of those quizzed said they were unaware of the importance of cleaning and disinfecting outside areas.

Despite this, 62 per cent of home owners in the South West said they were proud of their garden.
