TRUCKS, egg hunts, live music and pirates will make sure this Easter weekend is packed with something for all the family to enjoy.

Starting on Good Friday and going across the weekend there will be an Easter egg hunt everyday at Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens.

Eli Echo, the Dorset Echo’s mascot, donated 8,000 yummy chocolate eggs which will be given to youngsters as part of the giant Easter egg trail.

Egg hunters will have to find a hidden token, located around the gardens, to get a special chocolate egg treat from the Easter bunny.

There will also be the chance to win two giant 1.5kg milk chocolate eggs every day, for lucky visitors that find a golden horseshoe.

Or find one of ten tiny golden letters making up the word ‘Abbotsbury’ and win a chocolate bunny.

Plus there will be bouncy castle, a face painting tent, a children’s entertainer and story times throughout the day.

On Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm, there will be an Easter egg trail at Fancy’s Farm. Youngsters will be able to hunt for chocolate eggs, meet the animals and experience the views across the Isle of Portland.

On Sunday the Methodist Church on Portland is inviting the community to celebrate Easter together on Easter Sunday with a community picnic.

The picnic will take place in Easton Gardens from 12pm to 3pm.

There will be an Easter treasure hunt for children and adults, as well as a bouncy castle.

Starting at 10am on Sunday there will be one of the largest collections of radio controlled off road trucks at Bowleaze Cove.

Pirates will take over Nothe Fort from 10.30am-4.30pm The Fort Artillery will be firing their cannons and leading the battle against the Poole Pirates, assisted by youngsters, who are invited to bring their cutlasses and join in the mock battle.

On the Esplanade from 3pm Sunday, there will be live music as Hippy Fest is back at the Lazy Lizard. The line up includes: Leggomen, Stereioronics, Mad Hatters and Electric Bucket.

Supervisor Sharon Day said: “It’s an amazing day. Everyone will have lots of fun and there’s going to be loads of great bands.”

Over on the Harbourside, Rendezvous will be holding Tea on the Quay, with live music from 12noon including: Dave P, Victorian Barbers and Speedway Snails.

Manager Keith Treggiden said: “Rain or shine it will be a good day.”
