A WEYMOUTH teenager has expressed her gratitude to those helping her raise funds to learn about midwifery in Tanzania.

Paige Sewell recently hosted a fun day at Littlemoor Community Centre in a bid to add to the fund.

The day’s events included a display from the Odyssey Majorettes, face painting, an antique sale, and a raffle.

Alf’s Fish and Chips, Sainsbury’s, and Bovington Tank Museum were just some of the businesses that provided raffle prizes.

Meanwhile, businesses like Tom and Erin’s Seafront Gift Shop have had a donation box on display.

Paige said: “I must thank everyone again: the neighbours who generously bought raffle tickets and to those who walked for miles selling them for me.”

The Budmouth College student intends to cross Tanzania next year gaining experience in a range of different clinical environments and has until July to fundraise for her trip.

She is studying biology, psychology, health and social care and travel and tourism. Her ambition is to study midwifery at university.

While in Africa she will learn about obstetrics, gynaecology, paediatrics, birthing complications and emergency medical care for situations like road traffic accidents.
