A BIKE ride organised in memory of a soldier killed in 2011 will take place for the fourth year running this summer.
Royal Artillery Commando Warren Jackson, known as ‘Jacko’, died in a motorbike crash on the A31, aged 43.
The father–of-two was a committee member at the Sandmartin’s Activity Club, that his children attended.
For the past three years a ride around Purbeck has taken place to raise money for the activity club and forces charity Help for Heroes in his name.
Organiser Keith Cranfield said: “Last year’s ride was a great success, raising just over £2,000 to be divided between the nominated charities.
“Not a bad effort considering the economic climate and all the other worldwide events that are organised in the Dorset area.
“We have decided to hold the event again, which will be the fourth year it has been held.
“Sponsorship money raised will again be divided between Sandmartins and Help for Heroes.”
This year the 20-mile circuit starts at the Purbeck School in Wareham, at 11am on June 29, and finishes on Wareham Quay.
For a testing route, there will be the 40-mile route, which comprises completing a second circuit in reverse.
