GENEROUS fundraisers sprung into action to help boost vital funds for the Great Daffodil Appeal.
In partnership with Marie Curie, Weymouth and Portland Lions Club members organised a collection at Tesco, Portland.
The £409 raised will help provide free home nursing care for local people who are terminally ill with cancer. Lions Club president Russ Woolley said: “Every penny collected by Lions clubs goes direct to good causes as our membership fees cover any administration costs.
“This means our daffodil collection will help fund 20 hours of hands-on nursing care within our area.
“We are proud to be at the heart of the community, and our partnership with Marie Curie demonstrates how Lions clubs offer vital support for local people.”
The Great Daffodil Appeal has huge public support and has raised more than £70million since 1986.
Marie Curie Cancer Care chose Lions Clubs British Isles and Ireland to be its first official partner for the Great Daffodil Appeal last year to help raise an additional £1million.
