BUILDING a city was the theme of the day at St Andrew’s School in Weymouth.

Pupils from different year groups at the school took part in building a city on March 28, which also marked the final part of a whole school problem solving project.

The project encouraged the children to think about the work that goes into the building and construction industry and had them think about the different skills required for different construction jobs.

St Andrew’s school business manager, Jenny Muldoon, said: “Each year group was asked to complete a similar task for the project but on this occasion the children worked collaboratively to build a city.

“Pupils from various year groups had to think about what buildings are needed for a city and then think about size and shape when building the city structures. The older children also extended their learning to explore other requirements of a city such as transport infrastructures, water supplies and parks.”
