BIKES, trikes and scooters will be on show this evening as Weymouth’s bike night returns bigger and better than ever.

Now in its fifth year, the Thursday evening meet up of bike enthusiasts has become a regular feature on Weymouth harbourside.

Bikers and bike enthusiasts from across Dorset and as far away as Exeter, Yeovil and even Oxford have been flocking to the town to marvel at the amazing selection of mean machines on display.

From sports bikes to cruisers and old classics, there is always something for everyone when the engines roar and the pedal is put to the metal. This year’s event will see American cars joining their two-wheeled cousins on the last Thursday of every month.

So tonight will see classic Americana wing its way to Weymouth for the first night of the new season.

Make sure you get down to the harbourside from 6pm to watch as the bikes roll in.

Organiser Brian Coombes rides a 750cc Kawasaki twin bike, he said he was delighted with how the event was growing every year.

He added that the American cars would be an amazing sight to see. He said: “They are enormous some of them.”

Mr Coombes said they got a lot of people lining up along the harbourside waiting to watch the bikes come in.

Last year South Dorset MP Richard Drax came down to bike night on his motorbike and helped to raise money for charity.

The weekly event costs £1 per bike to enter and raises money for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and the Weymouth lifeboat and last year the event raised £450 for each good cause.
