AN ELDERLY woman had a shock when she was confronted by an intruder in her home who asked for money.
Police said the man, who broke into the house on Portland by breaking a window in a door, fled the property when the 70-year-old resident refused to give him money.
It happened in Fortuneswell on the night of Sunday, April 13 but police have only just released details. They are treating the incident as criminal damage.
The intruder fled via Spring Gardens and was thought to be with two other men.
PC Adam Bayliss, of Weymouth police, said: “I am interested in speaking with anyone who may have seen one or more men running in the direction of Spring Gardens at the time. “Someone may have seen some suspicious activity – I urge them to come forward. Anyone with information should contact the police on 101.
“All calls will be treated with the strictest confidence.”
The offender is described as a white man wearing a nylon type hooded tracksuit and a black scarf. He spoke with a north west accent.
