TOMORROW’S poor weather forecast has caused the late postponement of the Skate Jam event planned at Dorchester Skatepark.

Organisers say they have ‘reluctantly’ decided to put the event back to Saturday, June 21 with forecasts predicting rain coming in at around 1pm and lasting all afternoon.

Mark Noble from Deluxe BMX, who is part of the skatepark committee, said: “Since we have a lot of people coming from far and wide, BMX and skate industry sponsors lined up and as the Jam is also a NASS Qualifying round, we just made the sensible choice of postponing the Jam till June 21st.

“We have all the same sponsors lined up, the same groups, and it'll still be a NASS Qualifying Round so winners of 16 plus skate and BMX will qualify for NASS Finals, with runners-up winning weekend tickets and camping passes.”

Also  the Mad Hatter’s Tea parties in Weymouth have been combined into a single party at 1pm at the King’s Statue end of St Mary Street, where it is easier to manage.

The Alice in Wonderland characters will be around the town from midday, so come along, join the fun and when you spot a character, don’t forget to take a ‘Mad Hat Selfie’ and post to the Weymouth BID Facebook wall or on Twitter using hashtag #aliceinweymouth.

You can also take the challenge of Alice’s Weymouth Adventure Trail, a fun filled activity for the whole family in which you follow the trail, solve the clues and you could win a brand new iPad Air.

The Trail will continue until 6th September and costs just £2 each to enter - Trail packs are available from the Weymouth BID office at 15 St Alban Street.

Stories from Alice in Wonderland and Alice related craft activities will take place at the Weymouth Library between 10am and 12 noon.
