COULD it be love for these couples who met at a Weldmar Hospicecare fundraiser?

The couples met back in March at Weldmar’s Take Me Out event, a night of fun and laughter based on the popular TV format.

However, instead of going to the island of Fernando’s for their dates, like the TV programme, the couple went for Nando’s.

The Dorchester restaurant decked out a table with rose petals, gave all the women a single red rose and gave the couples four-course meals as part of their support for the event.

The couples originally met back on March 21 when the charity held their Take Me Out night at the Pavilion.

Twenty single women and five single men all joined in the event.

The woman had light boxes in front of them and if they didn’t like what they saw then they turned the light off – just like the TV catchphrase ‘No likey, no lighty.’ Videos of each of the men were shown, giving an insight into their likes and dislikes and a bit about them, followed by a video from family and friends with embarrassing stories and quirky tales.

A packed audience of 350 cheered on the contestants as they made their final selections and everyone got into the spirit of the game, said events and challenges fundraiser Matt Smith.

He said: “I think everyone came in with the attitude that it will be a bit of a laugh.

“The audience were really getting involved and helping the blokes decide which girls to choose at the end.”

He added: “The feedback has been good, people have been really positive about it which is really good.”

The evening was so successful, raising £3,000 for the hospice, that Weldmar are hoping to host it again next year.

And for now, it looks like love might be in the air for the lucky couples.

Mr Smith said: “I think everyone had a good time.”

He said it will be interesting to see if love blossoms for them.

He joked: “I definitely want an invite to the weddings if anyone gets married.”
