AN ENERGY company is now ‘considering its options’ for a 175-acre solar farm site after it decided not to contest a judicial review.
Campaigners opposing the proposed solar farm site on land owned by South Dorset MP Richard Drax at Charborough Estate near Mapperton, won the right to a judicial review in March.
Planning permission for the site had been granted in November last year.
The one-day review hearing was due to take place in Bristol on May 1.
But developer Good Energy confirmed that it will no longer be contesting the judicial review.
A spokesman for the company said: “Based on legal advice, we have taken the decision not to contest the judicial review.
“It is worth noting that the claim for the judicial review focused on the planning authority’s procedures and not the merits of project itself, and so it is a shame that a technical point is being used to stop a project that we believe is a good solar site.”
He added: “We are currently reviewing our options for this site.”
