Dorset Library Service is calling on book lovers and writers to join them for a Readers’ and Writers’ Day on Saturday, June 28 at the Exchange, Sturminster Newton, from 10am to 4pm.

Cllr Colin Jamieson, Cabinet member for community services at Dorset County Council, said: “There is a brilliant mix of best-selling, nationally acclaimed and local authors and speakers lined up who will inspire you with their energy and enthusiasm. I know we can look forward to some really exciting workshops as well where people can come together to explore their creative side.”

Best-selling authors Denise Mina, Matt Haig and Judy Astley will be there to share their passion for books and writing. There will also be a performance by topical poet and Radio 4 regular, Matt Harvey.

There is a wide range of workshops to choose from, covering everything from creative writing to poetry and book discussion sessions. Highlights include a talk from historical novelist, poetry anthologist and TV producer, Daisy Goodwin, scriptwriting tips with Anthony Burt and spy thriller and short story writer Mick Herron.

There will also be an opportunity to browse stands and displays, meet authors and buy books at the Readers’ Fair. For information click here.
