CHILDREN at a Weymouth school have been speaking out for the hungry.
Year 5 children at St Augustine’s Roman Catholic Primary School in Weymouth were set a challenge by CAFOD (Catholic Agency for Overseas Development) education volunteer Bea Taylor to write a speech for the organisation.
CAFOD helps poor and hungry people in developing countries.
The children researched and put together their speeches to read out to their peers. They then discussed the speeches in class and parents were invited to a special assembly where pupils read out what they had written.
The speakers and their co-writers were awarded certificates and prizes from CAFOD including water bottles and stationary.
Mrs Taylor said: “Many thanks to the headteacher Michael Lobo, staff and pupils of St Augustine’s RC Primary School for all their help and support.”
