CARERS put their best foot forward for a charity walk. Staff from Legh House residential home in Wyke Regis laced up their walking boots to take on a walk of just under seven miles in aid of Weldmar Hospicecare Trust.

Starting at the care home in Rylands Lane, the ten walkers headed down to the Rodwell Trail, across the causeway to the Cove House Inn on Portland before making the return journey.

The challenage was undertaken in memory of the late Colin Carey, husband of staff member June Carey.

Manager at Legh House, which is part of the Abbeyfield Weymouth Society, Julia White said: “We thought about a sponsored walk in memory of Colin and asked June who she would like to donate to. “Weldmar was her chosen charity because they have been so good to her and her family.”

The walkers hoped to raise as much money as possible, including collecting donations from people they met on the walk.

Carrying balloons and wearing brightly-coloured Abbeyfield t-shirts, they made an eye-catching sight as they walked over to Portland.
