A MAN has been arrested in connection with an alleged assault in Dorchester that left a woman needing hospital treatment.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which occurred in Bowling Alley Walk between 1pm and 1.30pm on Saturday.
A 49-year-old woman was allegedly attacked by a man after having a disagreement and sustained injuries that required hospital treatment.
Detective Sergeant Ed Meanwell, of Weymouth CID, said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen anything that can help with the investigation.
“It is believed several members of the public walked past and may have seen or heard something that could assist us with our enquiries.
“I am particularly keen to hear from people who may have intervened or helped while the incident was taking place.
“I urge witnesses and anyone with information about the incident to contact Dorset Police as soon as possible.”
Officers arrested a 41-year-old man of no fixed abode on suspicion of affray and he has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
