COUNCILLORS called on West Dorset District Council to set up a group focusing on homelessness, rent and benefit issues.
Parliamentary candidate Ros Kayes proposed a motion that the group should monitor the impact of benefit changes on rent arrears and homelessness at full council yesterday.
Cllr Kayes also asked the council to continue to set money for Discretionary Housing Grant for 2015/16, now that the ringfencing has been removed, and to lobby government to continue the Homelessness Prevention Grant after 2015. She withdrew the motion on condition that the points can be considered by the next meeting of the Policy and Scrutiny Committee.
It was agreed with recommendation to accept the Housing Allocation Policy Review.
