WEYMOUTH’S community radio station is celebrating its first birthday with a family-friendly bash tomorrow.

AIR 107.2 FM will be celebrating one year of broadcasting on the FM dial with a huge free family Party In The Park at Lodmoor Country Park from 11am to 5pm.

There will be stalls, live music and some creepy crawlies too.

Bugfest will be bringing their Live and Deadly show to join in the fun and kids of all ages will be able to meet a host of different bugs including tarantulas, huge giant African land snails, Madagascan hissing cockroaches, giant African millipedes, scorpions, giant centipedes, bearded dragons, Burmese pythons and many more.

The community radio station’s event is free to attend and everyone is encouraged to bring a picnic with them and join in the party.

The musical line-up includes: Lauren Bannon, 68:11, The Juke Box Junkies, Jess Upton, Steve Wilson & Robbie Macintosh, The Leggomen and the farewell performance of Danny and the Goosemen.

Station manager Carl Greenham said the station had experienced an amazing first year and thanked all the volunteers, Air Crew and listeners for their support.

He said the party was going to be a huge thank you to the community for all their support and he hoped everyone would come along and have a great day.

He said: “I am so proud that the Weymouth community have embraced their community radio station like they have. We receive so many positive messages and interaction with our listeners – it really does make it all worthwhile.

“Party In The Park will be a fantastic celebration of our year’s success – I hope everyone can join us.

“We are really proud to announce that the party will be broadcast live on FM too.

“So if you can’t join us in person, you can still listen to the fun on your radio.

“Thanks to everyone and here’s to another great year on 107.2 FM.”

Volunteer fundraiser and DJ Danny Adams said it would be a great day and a huge thank you to all their supporters.

He said: “It will be a real old-school how-it-should-be family festival.”
