‘Dorset’s Living Memories – the inside story’, will be the first presentation at the re-launch of the Crossways Local History Group.

The event, by Age UK Dorchester is on Tuesday May 20, at 7.30pm at Crossways Library.

The group, run by the Friends of Crossways Library, have invited Age UK Dorchester to tell the story behind the charity’s project to create an online archive of stories and photographs of Dorset in days gone by.

It will include memories and reminiscences of the people who spent their childhood, working life, holidays and even their retirement in the county.

Project co-ordinator Margaret Wellspring said: “This was a two-year project to collect and collate dozens of photographs and stories from the people who were born, bought up and worked in Dorset in the 20th Century.”

She added: “We had a marvellous time visiting care homes and other communities throughout the county, meeting some wonderful characters and hearing some incredible stories.”

This presentation is a unique opportunity to hear the stories, see those photographs and find out how it all came about.
