MUSIC from the movies and musicals, marches, and big band numbers will all feature on the programme at a special charity concert in Dorchester tonight.

The Royal Naval Volunteer Band from HMS Heron (Yeovilton) will be performing at the Corn Exchange from 7.30pm in an event organised by the Dorchester Rotary Club.

Charities set to benefit from the event will include the West Dorset Women’s Refuge, Young Carers, the Dorchester Disabled Club and the Dorchester branch of the Royal Naval Association.

The HMS Heron Royal Naval Volunteer Band comprises of serving military and civilian personnel from Somerset and neighbouring counties.

Its primary role is to provide music for ceremonial and social occasions in and around the Royal Naval Air Station at Yeovilton.

The current volunteer band instructor is Band Colour Sergeant Dave Edwards RM, who took over in January this year.
