A MOTHER-of-three who has just been given the all-clear from a rare cancer will be joined by her daughters as she takes part in the Dorchester Race for Life tomorrow.

Sarah Lynham and her family will be among more than 1,600 runners taking on the challenge at Kingston Maurward supporting Cancer Research UK.

Sarah, 34, said the thought of leaving her children Kara, 13, Eden, 10, and Kadie, six, without a mum was ‘heartbreaking’.

She added: “This year we are doing the Race for Life together, to raise money for Cancer Research so that, one day, no kids will have to lose their mum.”

Sarah, from Bridport, will also be joined by mum Jackie Moss and friend Gaynor Jones, who she said were ‘a great help’ during her illness, whilst son Eden and husband Paul will cheer them on from the sidelines.

She said: “I did the Race for Life two years ago with Kara because my mother-in-law had been diagnosed with bowel cancer. We were going to do it again last year, but I was too ill.”

Although she didn’t know it until her diagnosis last June, Sarah was suffering from neuroendocrine carcinoma of the cervix, a rare and aggressive form of cancer.

Beating the condition took six months of gruelling chemotherapy, daily trips to Poole Hospital for radiotherapy and a number of transfusions.

Although Sarah was given the all-clear in January, there is still a risk the cancer could return.

“It’s such a rare cancer that not a lot is known about it. It’s a mutation, not inherited or genetic, which is something I’m very grateful for.

“But that’s why it seemed so important to take part in the Race for Life and try to help.”

She added: “Kadie is very excited, and takes her sponsorship form everywhere she goes.
“I'm very proud of all of them.”
