POLICE are trying to trace an elderly woman who drove off after a crash in North Dorset.

Police said an elderly woman driving a green 4x4 vehicle was involved in a collision with a silver Peugeot 306. Significant damage was caused during the collision.

The elderly woman got out of her car and checked the damage - before driving away.

She failed to report the collision and left no contact details, say police.

It happened around midday on Friday, May 9 outside the post office in High Street, Gillingham.

PC Mike Henstridge, of Gillingham police, said: “I am appealing for anyone who may have seen this incident to contact Dorset Police.

“I also encourage the driver involved in the collision to do the right thing and speak with us as soon as possible.”
